Influenza Vaccine
Should my child get a flu shot?
The Center for Disease Control recommends that everyone 6 months and older be vaccinated for influenza annually. Influenza is spread through coughing and sneezing. Symptoms, typically lasting 5-7 days, include fever, sore throat, chills, fatigue, body aches, and cough. Influenza can lead to pneumonia, seizures, and hospitalization. In fact, about 36,000 people in America die from it yearly. This year’s vaccine will also provide protection against H1N1 strain and we at Cornerstone Pediatrics strongly recommend flu shots.
