Tips On Nutrition

Some tips on nutrition

Good nutrition is important for overall health as well as ability to perform well in school.  Snack time is an opportunity to provide extra nutrients, but it can easily be taken over by junk food!  A good way to keep things healthy is to choose a protein (peanut butter, lunch meat, low fat dairy – milk, cheese or yogurt) and pair it with a fresh fruit, vegetable or whole grain cracker or bread. Here are some examples:

  • Cheese and whole grain crackers

  • Apple slices with peanut butter

  • Peanut butter toast or sandwich with whole wheat bread

Busy days present a challenge, so you may be less tempted to grab the chips if you prepare fruit or cheese slices ahead of time or purchase apple slices in snack-size bags. Good luck and happy snacking from Cornerstone Pediatrics!
